  • Can I book an online workshop?
Yes! I am currently taking online workshop bookings, please get in touch for more details.
  • What do I need to consider before booking a workshop?
Group embroidery workshops are a perfect activity for hen parties and baby showers. They're also a great way for community groups to spend time together, and for individuals to learn a new skill. If you're interested in hosting a workshop for a group or an event then there are a few questions you will need to consider before getting in touch. 1) Who is this workshop for and how many people are likely to be involved? 2) Where will you host this workshop? Consider how much light the space has and how comfortable it will be to sit there for a number of hours. 3) Will you sell tickets to the workshop or will it be free for attendees? 4) Is there likely to be any children attending the workshop? Whilst I have seen children as young as 6 successfully having a go at hand sewing, the activity can be quite fiddly and will involve the use of needles and scissors. 5) What technique/skills are you looking to learn? Whilst I predominantly teach surface embroidery stitches, I can also tailor-make a workshop for groups looking to create a unique design or learn a specific embroidery technique.
  • What's your min/max number of people for a group workshop?
Workshops work best with a minimum of 4 people. I can cater up to 12 people in a workshop. Groups of 13+ will require a second tutor, costing an extra £20/ hour. For school groups I can run a workshop for classes of 30 with the relevant teacher and TA's present. Or, I can work with smaller groups of up to 8 on my own.
  • What can I expect to get done in a group workshop?
The amount you will achieve in a group workshop will vary depending on the class size and your prior embroidery knowledge. I aim to teach 3/4 embroidery stitches in a lesson. These stitches will form part of a design that can later be finished off at home. In a 2-hour workshop you will have the opportunity to have a go at all of these stitches. In a 4-hour workshop you will be given more time to practice these stitches, in the context of the larger piece.
